About: Michelle Cohen is a Canadian artist with a passion for capturing the beauty of landscapes and architecture through painting and photography. Despite being born in Saskatchewan, Canada, Michelle has spent the last 25 years living abroad, immersing herself in different cultures and environments.
Bio: Michelle Cohen is a self-taught painter and photographer, drawing inspiration from the landscapes and architectural marvels she encountered during her travels. Although rooted in her Canadian heritage, Michelle has found her creative haven in the breathtaking landscapes of Scotland, where she currently resides in Glasgow.
Living amidst the rugged beauty of Scotland’s verdant hills, wild oceans, and serene lochs, Michelle finds endless inspiration for her artwork. What sets Michelle’s work apart is her unique approach to painting. Rather than traditional canvas or paper, Michelle paints on layers of glass, meticulously building up a 3D effect in her artwork. This innovative technique adds depth and dimension to her pieces, inviting viewers to experience the landscape in a whole new way.
Her paintings vividly capture the essence of the Scottish landscape, from the great glens to the sandy Hebridean beaches. Through her lens, she skillfully preserves fleeting moments of light and shadow, allowing viewers to immerse themselves in the timeless beauty of Scotland’s natural wonders.
In her spare time, Michelle is an accomplished cue sports player and proudly represents Scotland on the national team in various disciplines including pool, snooker, and English billiards. This passion for precision and strategy in cue sports often finds its way into her artistic process, where she approaches her work with the same level of focus and dedication.
Michelle’s deep connection to Scotland is reflected in her work, as she seeks to convey the profound sense of awe and wonder that she experiences in the presence of its varied landscapes.
